Music For Brussels: One City, One Love

The arts and culture centres of Brussels are holding a sing along for consolation and solidarity

In an effort to rally and unite the people under the motto, Music for Brussels: One City, One Love,  the Arts and Culture Centres of Brussels are inviting everyone to come and sing along on Sunday 3 April at noon at the Beursplein public square.

The initiative was launched by Minister for Culture Sven Gatz, who joined his French-speaking colleague Joelle Milquet in asking the arts and culture centres to create an occasion of unity.

We invite all to come and sing along this Sunday and to let our voices be heard. If you can’t sing, it doesn’t matter! Music offers consolation and brings people together. And that is what Brussels, Belgium and the rest of the world is crying out for.

Choirmaster for the sing along is Peter Spaepen, who will conduct a host of singers from several well-known choirs on the Stock Exchange steps. The choir will sing:

  • Ik hou van u/Je t'aime tu sais - Monza
  • moules frites - Stromae
  • Vier hoog in de wolken - Johan Verminnen
  • Bruxelles - Jacques Brel
  • One Love - Bob Marley

This is an open invitation to come and sing, loud and clear, and to let your voice be heard. Let love resound in our wonderful capital. One city, one love!

About Beursschouwburg

Beursschouwburg is a multidisciplinary center for arts and reflection, an open meeting place strongly anchored in Brussels’ reality. Here we embrace the local, the global and the glocal.

Beursschouwburg functions as a platform to present and develop a wide array of art practices and research, as a  support and experimentation network for artists, collectives and thinkers; a hub that questions normativity and welcomes new narratives.

Together with collaborators, we co-create programs that ignite fruitful encounters between different audiences, forms and genres, between art and everyday life, between the emerging and the established, between urgency and joy.
